Mitch was enthusiasm 'perdogafied'! He was a very handsome dog. Mitch achieved more than we ever hoped - as a puppy, on 04/12/1999, he was awarded Best Puppy in Show at an all-breeds championship show, and as a 'teenager', on 01/07/01, he was awarded Best in Show at the Murray Valley All-breeds Championship Show. The following week Mitch gained his Endurance Title.
He was consistently been well placed at the Royal Adelaide Show, winning Challenge Dog and Best of Breed and being short-listed in the final four in the Gundog Group in 2002. He was awarded the Dog Challenge in 2004, then in 2005 he was once again awarded Best of Breed and went on to be placed third in the Gundog Group. He was also awarded Best Rarer Gundog Spaniel in Show - a special trophy donated by the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club of Victoria. At the Royal in 2006 he was awarded Reserve Challenge, and the Reserve Challenge and Runner-up Best of Breed again in 2007.Mitch has also been used on several occasions in the Junior Handlers Competition (the final of which is traditionally held on 'Special's Day' at the Royal).
We must admit that Mitch's success in the show ring has been exciting but it is loving, gentle-but-enthusiastic nature that we love most of all. You could say that we think he is rather special and often refer to him as "The Mighty Mitch’.
